Pick a character or object you’d like to bring to life! Remember, characters can be anything—a superhero from a comic, your favorite toy, or even your coffee machine! Imagine what this character might say if they could talk… perhaps the coffee machine has strong opinions on beans, or maybe the toy thinks it’s the boss of the playroom. Let’s get creative and make your AI character unique and fun!
Click on "Create" in the left navigation bar and select "Create a Character" to commence the process of character creation.
Here you will begin to fill in the basic information of the character you have conceived. Options without an asterisk (*) are optional.
The name is how you'll refer to the Character in chat and how other users will discover them. It is the best practice to reinforce the name in personality as well. Doing so will allow you some more flexibility when it comes to character's name.
Examples
Without reinforcement in personality: Character will refer to itself exactly as written in its name. This might be suboptimal in cases you want to use a more creative name.
With reinforcement in personality: You can use much more creative names and character will refer to itself with a proper name. This reinforcement is simply done by writing a simple sentence ''Character's name is xxx'' or alternatively ''Name: xxx''
Upload the character image. Please ensure that the photo you've chosen adheres to the guidelines. You can find the guidelines here: https://crushon.ai/community-guidelines
Addition to what's already there: this doesn't affect your characters' responses in any way. If possible, try to make it intriguing and captivating, as this along with the image is the first thing the user sees.
The greeting is just what it says, it's the first thing the Character will say when you start a new conversation with them. Greetings play a crucial role in defining who a character is or what a scene is.
Here are some tips to get you started
Do not write from {{user}}'s (your) perspective.
Example of wrong perspective: I see {{char}} walking towards me.
Example of good perspective: {{char}} is walking towards you.
The way the greeting is written will impact the rest of the conversation.
Greeting is the first thing that a character takes reference from. For this reason, if your greeting is short, character responses will also likely be short. If the greeting is immersive with detailed actions, responses will follow suit. This is also why it's very important to keep the formatting clean and correct, as mistakes might carry on for the rest of the conversation. Please ensure that actions are clearly defined within asterisks, and ensure that the greeting is written from the correct perspective, otherwise the character might speak on behalf of user.
The way your character acts / talks in the greeting is also important.
Content of the greeting message should be reflective of the character's personality. If you want your character to act friendly, please ensure that the character acts like that in the greeting as well. This is also very important when it comes to special speech patterns, for example stuttering. For example, if you want your character to stutter, it is very important to include stuttering in the greeting.
Try not to include {{user}}'s dialogue into the greeting.
Doing this will increase the chance of character speaking on user's behalf, which can result in roleplay being out of {{user}}'s control.
Example of greeting message
*Yuzu knocks on the door, leaning against the frame with a confident smirk. As the door opens, she takes in the sight of {{user}}, who is visibly surprised to see her.* Well, well, look who finally showed up, *She purrs, her tail flicking lazily behind her.* My place is a disaster right now, thanks to those noisy renovations. So i figured, why not grace you with my presence for a while?
The Long Description allows you to have the Character describe themselves (traits, history, mannerisms, etc) and the kinds of things they want to talk about.
Here are some tips to get you started:
Include as much information as you want.
The more information you include in your character, the more immersive it will be. You can include sections such as: Personality traits, appearance, speech pattern, scenario, story, relationship, background, world building, clothes, what actions, body language and expressions character performs and so on. You do not need to write all of these, but it is possible and it all belongs in personality section.
Write in the correct perspective.
It is generally the best practice to write everything from a third perspective. It keeps things consistent and easy.
Example of wrong perspective: {{char}} is my best friend.
Example of good perspective: {{char}}'s best friend is {{user}}.
Do not write about {{user}}'s actions, feelings and so on.
Focus solely on the Character, as it's not possible to control the actions of user. This might confuse the AI and give suboptimal results.
Choice of words matters.
Certain words are stronger than others, for example ALWAYS and NEVER. Positive prompts are generally stronger than negative prompts. Vague terms like ''usually, could, might, sometimes'' are not recommended, as AI doesn't know how often ''Sometimes'' is, and as such, the action tied to it might never happen. Ensure that you use the correct wording if you want to get the desired result. Furthermore, the way you describe the character's appearance matters as well. If you write it poetically, it will be reflected in bots responses. If the appearance is written in a bland way, bot will follow suit.
Keep things organized.
Try not to mix scenario with personality, background with appearance and so on. Keep things nice and organized, so that the AI has an easier time understanding the information given to it.
A good template to start with is this:
You can add various other sections there. Such as relationships, occupation, behavior, actions, likes & dislikes and many, many more.
Upload an immersive chat background for your chat. Scene cards do not affect the characters' responses in any way. Please follow the same guidelines as with the character photo.
Visibility
The Character Visibility defines who will be able to talk to your Character. If set to Public, your Character will be visible on Home and in search results. If it's Unlisted, others won't see it unless you share the link, while if you set it to Private no one else will be able to talk with the Character.
Ensure your character's privacy settings are correct. Making it private will prevent it from appearing on the main page.
Don’t forget to turn on the NSFW button in the setting if you publish the NSFW character.
By selecting specific tags to define a character's personality or story traits, users can quickly understand the character's characteristics and easily find the character through tag categorization.
Pick the gender for the character you have created.
If you choose to make it public, this character definition will be displayed on the character details page.
Describe the environment the Character is in.
This field acts as a guide or template for structuring your character's responses.
